SIKAD PA KAUSWAGAN

(The land of beauty and bounty)

In the years prior to 1521, the native Muslim’s occupied the coastal plains of the Province, known as Lanao Del Norte. Datu M. Mohammad a datu and prosperous fisherman by occupation believe to have come from Cabingan, sulu who occupied more than half off these coastal Plains.

Through negotiation with the local Muslim’s leaders, people particularly from cebu and bohol were encouraged to settle in the parts of Mindanao.

The Christians settlers renamed DALICANAN into KAUSWAGAN meaning “Progress” or “improvement”. Kauswagan later on become the set of local Government and Dalicanan just mere a sitio. 

From the early 70’s where the Barracudas (Maranao fanatics) and the blackshirt (Christian fanatics) causes death on both tribes and the mass evacuation of the community folks due to killings and burning of houses to the years 2000 when the municipality was nearly occupied by the MILF rebels. This lead to the rise in the poverty incidence of kauswagan  in the year 2009 to 79% blazes rise to an extreme levels, livelihood is affective, education, health and sanitation, and worst, relationship between Muslims and Christians in the area deteriorates.

The Positive thing here in our place is that they are having a team kabataan for the kauswagan from region VIII present their positive idea, OPIAN schirlhea, which aims to the province toilet facilities to 57% of the population who do not have their own comfort vows, together with assistance from other concerned stakeholders to improve sanitation facilities.

And the negative things it has many things that they corrupted the government here in our place, because our major has no time to make improvement here in kauswagan beautiful improvement that we need it here in kauswagan.

I have a lot of experience here in our place, because I live here and I grow up together with my two brothers with my mother helps. And the things I’ve experience is they have some activities are good to us or relate the same things to overcome their things that they need to improve some facilities here in kauswagan.

We are improving the park or a children’s park and to continue the side part of the longest boardwalk here in pantalan. And it was nice to “laag-laag” it because the wind are so cold HAHAHA amen. 

Our place are so boring when you “Laag” here in our place, because we don’t have and activities we celebrated. And all I want to our place more improvement and to finished all the things they do, and not only “Puro salita” to make them believe that you are doing well in our place. And all I want to say to our Honorable Mayor Rommel C. Arnado is to more improvement to your projects that you offered and to make people enjoying the things that we have it all.
